Jesus spoke about the kingdom as God’s presence and power in our world– that this kingdom was near and we could learn to both notice and participate in his kingdom. When we learn to recognize the kingdom and walk in it, we become a part of Jesus mission to bring his kingdom to this world. One day Jesus will return and his kingdom will rule all of creation. Yet even while we wait expectantly, we can catch glimpses of his kingdom in our everyday lives.
NEXT STEPSJesus sees you as you are. Each week we’ll see a person who encounters Jesus in the gospel of Luke. With Luke’s help, we’ll discover how Jesus offers healing compassion to every person who encounters him today.
NEXT STEPSWhat is God like? How does God feel about me? What would God do if God broke into this broken world? What would God say if we met on the street?
The astounding claim of the Bible is that we don’t have to guess, because Jesus shows us exactly what God is like. Jesus shows us exactly what God did do when God became a man on this planet, exactly what Jesus said when he interacted with injustice and broken people. So for the next few months, Starting with Advent, we’re going to take a long look at Jesus in a well-researched biography by Luke.
NEXT STEPSDid you know that prayer matters? Throughout the entire story of God, prayer is included at every single pivotal moment. WITHOUT EXCEPTION! Because of this, we need to understand what prayer really is, why we do it, how do we do it and what happens when we pray. Prayer helps us recognize and experience our mysterious invisible yet very powerful union with God. There is no “one size fits all” for prayer, and we do it a vast injustice when we limit our prayer life to only one kind. May this be our opportunity to dig deep into the heart of prayer and spread wide its role in our lives.
NEXT STEPSFast forward, skip, hurry up! This is the pace of our lives and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down any time soon. Or will it? What if we actually could slow things down… pause… take our time to smell the roses. Fun fact. Did you know that in the Bible Jesus NEVER runs? Let that sink in. What if our faith and lives never seem to connect because we’re moving at a clip Jesus never used? If these questions are intriguing to you then you’ll want to join us on this journey looking at Silence, Sabbath, Simplicity, and Slowness and explore whether or not there’s room for change as we seek to follow Jesus.
NEXT STEPSFollowing Jesus leads to a life of purpose and adventure and peace in all situations. And when we look at the lives of the first followers of Jesus, it’s abundantly clear: you can’t live a life that is truly dedicated to Jesus without courage. But courage is more than an attitude – it is always an action. A decision. A step out in faith. A decision to speak up or stand firm. Sometimes, it’s even a physical change in location or vocation; a move.
Followers of Jesus are always willing to make moves, even uncomfortable or scary ones. The good news is that God is always at work around us; His Spirit is always moving! He’s leading the way and with us in every step.
Join us each Sunday August 14 – September 18 As we explore how God’s Spirit is moving, how His presence transforms us and how we live. God’s Spirit has moved close to us, but how will we respond? How will you respond? It’s your move.
The word, “gospel,” which literally means ‘good news,’ refers to the story of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection and how, ultimately, He came to set us free. In light of this good news, we have been given a Word to live by – a collection of stories and instruction that should be used to inform and influence and even correct us. Living a life that is led by the Gospel should be simple. But so often, we get it wrong.
Fortunately, we’re not alone. Early Christians missed the mark more than once, and required the correction of leaders like the Apostle Paul to set things right-side-up again.
Join us this summer for a six-week journey through the Book of Galatians. Together, we will re-discover our freedom in Christ and course-correct our Gospel gone wrong.
Do you ever wonder what you want the last years of your life to look like? Have you ever considered what you might feel when you look back at your life from an ‘older you’s’ perspective? How do you measure a life?
The reality is – we can have a life well lived, marked by gratitude, generosity, wisdom, and grace. We can spend more of our days with purpose, intentionally adding value to the lives and world around us. For that, we need to be mature.
In this series, we will unpack the instructions for maturity from the most prolific leader of the early Church – the Apostle Paul.
Our goal?
“…that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
We often recite these little sayings without any thought to their literal meaning or their origin.
THAT’S OK. NO HARM. NO FOUL.
But… what if there are some phrases that truly did impact our lives for the better?
What if, in some of our most defining moments, a pocketful of phrases could help us recall the bigger picture, regroup from worry and what-ifs, and give us guidance to live with real wisdom?
Those phrases exist in the pages of the Bible, within the Book of Proverbs.
Each year, followers of Jesus from all over the world center themselves and the content of their church services around a singular event – the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that this miraculous moment in our history is worth revisiting and retelling, because it is not only true, but it is remarkable. It is where our hope is found.
This year, we invite you to come with us as we slow down, zoom in, and step into this awe-inspiring story. Join us in our investigation of the moments leading up to and surrounding this foundational event of our faith. In this three week series, we will take a closer look at each day; we’ll examine, frame-by-frame, the weekend that changed history forever.
We’ve been told that our greatest achievements, our biggest successes, life’s brightest and most beautiful moments happen on the mountain – once we’ve traveled and conquered and ultimately, arrived. But what if there was another kind of story? A story about heartache and loss, about grief and trial. One that hasn’t arrived, hasn’t reached it’s joyful resolution, and yet, it is a story with one key element that changes everything – hope.
Unveiled to us through the accounts of biblical heroes, through pages and poems and psalms, and through you, is a story worth telling.
In this four week series, we will showcase four local artists, their music and their stories, and examine biblical lament through the lense of a very poignant Psalm. Join us, and dare to uncover the hope that is found in your story – from the valley.
Whether we’re moving towards or through a new season in our life, navigating a time of transition and change, or settling into a familiar rhythm, each of us has asked some version of this question: What was I made for?
We all want to know our purpose and, even more, we need practical tools and language to help us discover how to live it out.
In “MADE FOR THIS“, we will take an intentional look at the life that Jesus models for us and examine three rhythms of life that will form us, encourage us, and empower us to live the real, abundant life that Jesus offers to us.
When we follow Jesus, we’d like to think that we put Him first. He is, after all, Lord of all. Still, we struggle.
What if there were practical tools that we could put into place to help us truly but Jesus first? Join us as we discover the truth that the bible offers us and journey together to finally put JESUS OVER EVERYTHING.
