Hurricane Helene Relief

In light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, our Missions Team, staff, and Ministry Partners have been hard at work to collect information and build a plan for how we can best serve our neighbors in the Western North Carolina region, as well as right here in Lincoln County.

how you can help

Our team has identified meaningful partnerships for immediate, short term assistance, as well as long-term service. As details come into focus and our plan evolves, all updates will be reflected on this page.

volunteer

Our missions team is continually working to commission trips from Lake Forest to travel to Western NC to serve meals, clean up homes, and assist in construction repairs. In addition to Lake Forest’s partnerships and initiatives to serve, there are many other organizations where you can sign up to serve, give, and support the communities of Buncombe County and Western North Carolina.

pray

for those who have been impacted by this natural disaster. The Western North Carolina region was impacted by severe devastation, and there are those in Lake Norman who are still without power, water, or access to food and gas. We’ve heard stories of damaged homes and cars.

We are grateful to lend tangible support, and we also continue to pray for the peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit, and for His guidance to those who are helping rescue, care for, and protect our most vulnerable neighbors during this time.

frequently asked questions

Can I give financially to the church to support relief efforts?

Lake Forest Church, as a rule, has two types of giving: general giving, of which 10% goes toward Missio Dei, and capital campaign giving, which goes toward designated building/initiative funds. To give toward Hurricane Relief, we recommend purchasing items for donation and dropping off at local collection sites, or giving directly to local churches or schools in the Western NC region (linked above).

I saw that the church was collecting supplies. Are we not doing that anymore?

In the first two weeks following Hurricane Helene, our church focused its efforts on collecting Hurricane Relief donations. We worked with organizations like BeLoved Asheville to ship supplies to those who needed them. We have since received word that people/volunteers are needed, rather than supplies, at this time.
We may, however, resume collections in the future. We remain committed to adjusting our efforts to serve the needs of these communities during short, medium, and long term hurricane relief efforts.
