Ben Detwiler

Technical Coordinator
As our Technical Coordinator, Ben oversees audio-visual upgrades, installations, and operations. In addition to providing oversight for sound, stage, and lighting each Sunday Morning trying so that our worship services can run smoothly, Ben also takes care of IT challenges at our church. Ben has been at Lake Forest since November of 2021.
Ben loves the way that his role at Lake Forest allows for him to learn and further develop his skills AV technology. On a typical Sunday, the truth is, you may not even see Ben! He tends to ‘hide’ in our production room with the rest of our tech team that oversees screens and video production.
Ben says, “if you read my God story, you would see the story of the shepherd leading me when I had lost my faith and deconstructed myself into a hole, then coming back home to faith.” During a time in his life when he had walked away from church, Ben found Lake Forest and says that the messages spoke to him, and that he fell in love with the team that he got to be a part of.
Ben grew up in a small town, just outside the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He is the oldest of five siblings and part of a large family. Ben’s greatest passions outside of church are rock climbing, reading, playing music, surfing, and playing video games like Dungeons and Dragons with his friends. On a typical day off, you can find Ben playing video games with friends or at a local rock climbing gym.
