Angie Clayton

Team Development Leader
for Kidventure
Angie is responsible for the recruitment, training, care, and development of the volunteer leaders in Kidventure, who we call ‘Guides.’ Angie has been a part of the Lake Forest Family of Churches since before the inception of our WestLake church, and she came on staff here at Lake Forest Church WestLake in 2021. The greatest part of her job, according to Angie, is the kids! She loves getting all the hugs and high fives on Sundays, seeing the kids excited about what they will learn that day, and seeing them have fun with their friends.
On a typical Sunday morning, Angie is running around in the Kidventure hallways checking in with guides, greeting families, and catching up with parents. She often substitutes in classrooms, helps run kids to the ‘potty,’ and jump in for games of lava monster on the playground.
Angie’s God story begins with watching her grandparents read their bibles and having the grandkids all say their prayers each night. These actions left a meaningful impression on Angie so that when she grew up and went away to college, reading her bible felt like ‘home’ to her. Angie says, “I never understood what it was to have a relationship with Christ until my thirties. It was just never something I was taught at church. There were all these rules about right and wrong, but I never knew God wanted to know me personally. That all changed after my first women’s bible study.”
Angie is passionate about kids knowing the God loves them and wants to know them personally. She wants to help teach kids that they have an important place in God’s Kingdom now, not just when they’re an adult, and she loves that Lake Forest offers a place for kids to connect and find their role in God’s story.
Both Angie and her husband, Hap, are locals to the East Lincoln region, and they have two songs, Reid and Luke. Angie describes their life together as, “loud, laughing, and crazy busy.” Her passions beyond her work include connecting with friends, crossfit, yoga, hiking, reading a good book, and enjoying live music. On her typical days off, Angie can be found at a local ball field supporting her kids and cheering them on.
