Alicia Alfred

Curriculum Coordinator
for Kidventure
As the Curriculum Coordinator, Alicia plays a key role in equipping our Sunday morning Kidventure leaders to teach and engage in the lessons for their classroom. She works to put together that Sunday morning curriculum, as well as the take home devotions and calendars. She also ensures that our classrooms are decorated for the current Kidventure theme! Her role is to ensure that kids have what they need to learn and grow in their faith and to provide an environment that facilitates fun, faith, and friendship.
Alicia has been on staff at Lake Forest since 2022, but she’s been around our church since 2016. She is passionate about helping kids learn about Jesus in a fun, engaging way, and helping them develop meaningful friendships with their peers and mentor relationships with trusted adults. She loves seeing kids excited to come to church and makes it a personal goal to help reach kids who are reluctant to be there. She loves seeing a child go from nervous to be in Kidventure to never wanting to leave!
On a typical Sunday morning, Alicia is most often supporting volunteers by popping into their classrooms to soothe a child, help teach a lesson, or run supplies. Her main goal is to make sure that things are running smoothly on Sunday morning.
When asked about her God story, Alicia says, “If someone were to read my God story, they’d see God’s goodness and Him being a constant presence throughout most of my life and intentionally placing people in my life to bring me back when I start to drift.” Throughout her life, Alicia says she has always been drawn to work with children, and God has always opened doors for her to serve with kids.
Alicia is from West Virginia, and she also lived in Ohio and Connecticut. She comes from a big family, being one of five siblings, and she now has four boys of her own! Beyond her role at Lake Forest, Alicia works in speech therapy and mentors at St. James Elementary. She also loves to exercise and be active. She explores the outdoors often.
On a typical day off, Alicia says she is, “running my boys around to where they need to be, catching up on household tasks, and running errands or going to the gym.”
