Advent:

an annual season of waiting that takes place in the four weeks before Christmas each year,  as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

What does “advent” mean?

Advent means “arrival” and signifies the start of an event or the arrival of a person. In Christian communities around the world, Advent refers to a four-week season of remembering and celebrating the arrival of Jesus on Earth. It’s a time to reflect on the unexpected nature of Jesus’ humble birth and join in the anticipation of when he will come again to reunite Heaven and Earth once and for all.

Advent Services:

Sunday mornings during Advent
In the Advent season, we look forward to Christ’s birth each week by participating in liturgical readings and candle lighting as a part of our worship services. Our Advent sermon series this year is called, “Fullness of God,” and we are examining the four names of Jesus given to Him in Isaiah’s prophecy – Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
You can join us any Sunday in December and catch up with the series online.
OUR SERIES
Blue Christmas

Join us as we set aside a unique time of worship and reflection designed to help us acknowledge the grief and loss that so many of us have experienced this year and in years’ past. Through words, music, art, and prayer, we seek the comfort, hope, and healing that only Christ can bring.
Come as you are, and invite those that you know who are hurting this year to join us for a “Blue Christmas” worship experience.

BLUE CHRISTMAS
Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve services allow us to celebrate the birth of Jesus and learn more about what it means for our lives. We are excited to share in the incredible news of Jesus – God with us – this Christmas, and we encourage your participation in worship as we sing and celebrate together. In our service, you’ll be invited to pray with us, sing, and listen to an encouraging message from the Bible that we hope will meet you right where you are.

CHRISTMAS EVE

The candles of the Advent Wreath

In many traditions, people reflect on the concepts of hope, peace, love, and joy by lighting candles — one for each week leading up to Christmas. At our church, we light these Advent candles and read specific Scriptures each Sunday of Advent to reflect on the arrival of Jesus on Earth.

Hope
Our Savior’s birth delivered hope into the world. No matter the hardship we face, God’s hope-filled arrival means we can have hope right here, right now. The gift of hope was not just for the past—it’s for our present and our future too. We can hold a hopeful expectation for the dreams in our hearts, the deep prayers, and the desires we hold dear.
Peace

When you consider the hustle and bustle of Christmas, peace may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But it’s important to pause and consider this gift of peace that God gives us in His Son Jesus. In fact, He wants to give us peace at all times in every way (2 Thessalonians 3:16)—that’s a big promise! So take a breath, invite God’s peace into your home and heart. Lay your burdens at His feet and trust that He’s fighting battles on your behalf.

Joy

We all know what happiness feels like, a smile, a rush of warm-fuzzies, the feeling you get after opening a gift. Jesus delights in the moments of happiness in our lives, but He also offers us something that goes beyond momentary happiness—lasting joy. Our Savior’s arrival offered a gift of great joy to the world—eternal love and life with Him. He is Immanuel, God with us. He will never leave us or forsake us. No matter what comes our way, we can unwrap the gift of lasting joy in our lives as we rest in the truth of God’s immeasurable love.

Love

God’s unending and limitless love is a gift that holds the power to transform our hearts and lives. When we sit and reflect on how deeply He loves us, it enables us to freely love others, walk with confidence, and face the unknowns in our future. When we grasp the magnitude of God’s love, wrapped in the gift of His Son, Jesus, it changes the way we view Christmas. The lights, the tree, the gifts, and the music are all lovely, but don’t compare to the beauty of God’s unconditional love.
